Love Out Loud
October 24, 2019 | Kristen Teglovic
This week over 1,000 people drove into the parking lot of Grace Church, some for the first time, for a fun evening of sweet treats and fellowship. Trunk or Treat is one of my favorite evenings of the year because it feels like a celebration. I love the opportunity to see many people from my church family and, together with you, serve the community of Ashland. So many of you played a crucial role in loving our community well during this event. Each year I am overwhelmed by what our God does with the loaves and fish that we bring as we commit together to telling people about the truth of His word and proclaiming deeply He loves them.
Multiple amazing stories came from the thousands of conversations that happened during the event. Our volunteers were able to connect with people looking for a church home, hand out Bibles to kids who may not have one in their homes and give away hundreds of pieces of candy.
The love that was shown during Trunk or Treat is an example to our community that Grace Church is a safe place to be real. That no matter where they are on your journey, we welcome them with big hearts and open doors so one more person can find true hope.
And that is what all of this is about, right? The Gospel. As we move our mission statement off the wall and into our lives, what begins in prayer turns into action out of the overflow of God’s love for us. Then we can do what Jesus commanded His disciples in Mark 15:16 - “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation (ESV).”
On behalf of the NextGen team, thank you for partnering with us to proclaim the Gospel to all creation, starting with the next generation in Ashland.
